Ramsey
Lake is central to the lives of many Sudburians not only is it the main water
supply for the city, but the Bell Park boardwalk runs along one side of the
lake and is enjoyed by pedestrians throughout the summer. Bell Park and Bell
Grove along the lakeshore were named in the honour of William Joseph Bell who
as a member of the Sudbury Parks Board promoted city parks.
The amphitheatre in the park is used frequently in the summer for many outdoor
concerts and festivals. In winter, a skating path is cleared along the Ramsey
Lake shore, which is enjoyed by many on a warm winter day. Science North can
also be found on the Ramsey Lake shoreline, the popular science centre is renowned
for its interactive science displays.
The yacht and canoe club also reside on these waters, where many boating enthusiasts
enjoy their summer. Whether fishing or relaxing on the Ramsey Lake beach or
shopping at one of the many specialty shops in Sudbury’s downtown, there’s
always something happening in Sudbury.
Housing within the area ranges from thirty to forty years old with some newer
housing developments. This area has single-family dwellings, as well as townhouses,
and co-ops and some Ontario Housing communities.
